Trees include-Western Red Cedar, Alaskan Yellow Cedar, Sitka Spruce, Pacific Silver Fir, Douglas Fir, Pacific Yew, Western Hemlock, Shore Pine, Cottonwood, Douglas Hawthorn,Vine Maple, Pacific Dogwood, Garry Oak, Big Leaf Maple, Pacific Madrone, Serviceberry sp, Mt. Ash, Cascara, Paper Birch, Quaking Aspen, Oregon Ash, Hazelnut, Sitka Alder, Western White Pine and Pacific Crabapple.

Plants include-Oregon Grape, Elderberry, Mock Orange, Red Huckleberry, Evergreen Huckleberry, Salmonberry, Willow sp, Pacific Rhody, Nootka Rose, Peafruit Rose, Snowberry, Spirea sp, Salal, Kinicknick, Black Twinberry, Red Currant, Ninebark, Red Twig Dogwood, Indian Plum, Rosey Pussy Toes and Virginia Strawberry.

All potting material is a mixture of fish doo from Gorst Creek rearing pens, recycled sawdust from the Olalla Mill and bio-solids from Karcher Creek Sewer District.

Jim Trainer/Bio

Jim Trainer is a nationally known Community Forester. He has been recognized by the National Arbor Day Foundation to be the only forester in the United States to win both Tree Line USA and Tree City USA Awards. He is an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist, Washington State University Master Gardner for 25 years and founding member of KiTSA, a non-profit tree organization. Jim has done tree presentations for Arbor Day Foundation in Nebraska, Seattle, WA, Tacoma, WA, Bellingham, WA, Olympia, WA Port Townsend, WA, Cle Elum, WA, and Ellensburg, WA. and many other cities in the state. Jim Trainer is a Champion Tree Hunter in Washington. He coordinates with the University of Washington Champion Tree Program on his finds. He has developed a Kitsap Trees Champion Tree Calendar for 2005, which has been distributed nationally. It was the first ever-Champion Tree Calendar for the State of Washington.

Deer, butterflies, birds, fish, habitat trees, critter huts, wildlife meadows and guzzlers. HERITAGE TREE PROGRAM - Come see and learn about the Heritage Trees from forest giants to historical and cultural trees of our community and TREES AND TREETURES - Come learn about the trees and treetures of our forests. Tree and treeture identification, sounds, where they live and their habitat. Jim received the Man of the Year Award by the East Bremerton Rotary Club in 2006 for his environmental work with youth. Jim does volunteer environmental work for Kitsap Trees now KiTSA (Kitsap Trees and Shoreline Association) and Illahee Preserve and many other projects throughout Kitsap County where he is needed. Kitsap Trees in 2002 received The Earth Day Award from Kitsap County for their environmental stewardship.
Starting January 2007 Jim will be a part-time Naturalist Eco-Tour Guide for Local Escapes specializing in bear, eagle, elk, cougar and Heritage Trees. Recently, Jim was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from Washington State Parks in 2007 for his dedication to Natural Resources throughout Washington State Parks.
